National Merit Commended Student

HCA Head of School Rick Johnson announced that senior Nicolas Miranda has been named a commended student in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program. With his parents and others attending, Nicolas was presented a certificate and letter of commendation on Wednesday, November 10, in the HCA Chapel.

About 34,000 commended students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Along with another 16,000 students selected as semifinalists, the combined total of 50,000 students represent the top 3% of the Class of 2022 based on their PSAT qualifying test scores.

A National Merit spokesperson stated, "Those being named commended students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success. These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success."
